Vernice Davis
Anthony, CEO and President of the Greater Detroit Area Health
Council, is a woman who pushes for accountability in health care.
Her advocacy and leadership in Michigan health care programs for
nearly 30 years were among the reasons she was the winner of the
Eleanor Josaitis Unsung Hero Award for 2010.

Priscilla Perkins has
served as board member and volunteer for many organizations over the
past 20 years, and is now the Chief Development Officer for
Lighthouse in Oakland County. Lighthouse has been providing
assistance to families and individuals since 1972, including PATH,
which aids low-income women to achieve self-sufficiency and a
healthy family environment.

addition to being a student at Wayne State University Law School,
Asia Villarosa has volunteered endlessly to help low-income children
in Detroit Public Schools and at the Children’s Law Center. She is
the first WSU student to win the prestigious Skadden Public Interest
Fellowship, which supports graduating law students who wish to
provide legal services to the poor, elderly, as well as those
deprived of their civil or human rights.

“Expanding Horizons for Girls in Science and
Mathematics” encourages girls to consider STEM (science, technology,
engineering and math) careers. Hands-on workshops provide
opportunities for students to explore opportunities in these
fields. Explorathon is a joint project of AAUW and the Cranbrook
