Used Book Sale

The 2011 AAUW Birmingham Branch book sale is now over and achieved great success due to the hard work of many. Thanks to all who helped support this worth while event which allows us to donate books to schools and provides funds for us to donate to educational causes.  

News of the Fall 2012 book sale will be posted here when available.

The 85th Annual AAUW Birmingham Branch book sale
  September 9 -11, 2011

Birmingham Masonic Temple
37357 Woodward Avenue, Bloomfield Hills

  Friday, September 9 is the preview sale from 6:30-8:30;  admission - $10.00

Saturday 10:00-5:00

Sunday, Bag Day  11:00-3:00; $7.00/bag. 

Book collection and sorting will be at the Bloomfield Schools Farm Activity Building (FAB) on the corner of Square Lake and Adams on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-noon.

Your participation is needed; please volunteer for any or all phases of this endeavor.

Each year we hold a sale of used books to raise funds for area scholarships, graduate fellowships and local philanthropies.  The community donates used books to AAUW Birmingham branch during June, July and August, with the sale in September.


Books needed - Please donate!

We are looking for

Books in very good condition
Audio/visual items
No sets, textbooks, or magazines

We collect books between June 15 and August 31.

We do home pickups for donations of large numbers of books.  Please contact the Home Pick-Up Chair to arrange pickup.

You can drop off your donated books at the following locations.  These locations can not accept books at other times of the year.

Barrels are available at the following locations

  • Ace Hardware @ Telegraph and Maple

  • Curves @ Adams Square, Birmingham

  • Curves @ Coolidge and 12 ½ Mile

  • Bloomfield Township Senior Services, Andover Road, south of Long Lake

  • Holiday Market @ Main Street in Royal Oak

  • Hollywood Super Market @ South Blvd. and Opdyke

  • Hollywood Super Market @ Maple and Coolidge

  • Kroger @ Coolidge and Maple

  • Kroger @ South Blvd. and Crooks

  • Kroger @ Long Lake Road and Telegraph

  • Kroger @ Lone Pine and Orchard Lake Road

  • Market Square @ 14 Mile Road and Southfield

AFTER JUNE 10, a barrel will be available at the sorting site, Bloomfield Hills Farm Activity Building.
